Duties and Responsibilities: A pathologist are professional physicians that utilize tissues or fluids from the body in order to diagnose or treat diseases. Your duty is to examine fluids such as blood and urine or tissues from biopsies to diagnose any kind of disease. Some of their duties consist of:
  • Develop new tests to improve diagnosis of diseases.
  • Conduct research and present scientific findings.
  • Manage medical laboratories
  • Collaborate with surgeons or other professions in order to deal with the disease.
Pathologists are also responsible to study the disease using laboratory methods.

Salary: $191,098 median annual

Education: In order to become a medical pathologist, you must complete the academic requirements. You must have taken some courses of science such as biology, physics, chemistry, or physiology. You must first earn a bachelor’s degree then a medical degree. Additional education and training is required as well. Which includes four to five years of training clinic or forensic pathology. During your high school years, you must take advanced math, science, and English classes. During college, you must any undergraduate major and enroll in forensic science program. During medical school, focus on patient care.

Demand or Need for this Profession: According to PayScale.com, the job outlook for this profession is reported to increase 14 percent in 2014-2024. Therefore, there will be a need for this profession.

Reflection: I don’t think I would like to be a medical pathologist, because it seems that there is a lot of pressure for a pathologist due to the fact you will need to transport fluids and tissues from the body into the laboratory and examine them very closely in order not to make a mistakes on the exa
